The Mediterranean in winter

What a lovely place. The sea is sparkly. The sun is out. All the Spainish people are wearing overcoats andd boots, but us from the colder countries are out in t-shirts, though not shorts. We are like Victorisns going to the Gold Coast in the July holidays! It is great.

The town of Calpe reminds me of Mooloolaba without the surf. There are lots of high rise accommodations and restaurants and the beach is long. Behind the beach and the first couple of rows of high rise is a salt lake and it is aa winter stop over for flamingoes. so we have seen our first wild flamingoes. It is pretty hard to compete with those in the Adelaide Zoo though these were prancing about doing that funny neck movement. Theo was disappointed that there was no displays involving twining necks to make a love heaRT pattern, but maybe we would have to watch for longer.

There are some classy boats in the various marinas and it looks as if it would be really quite nice to sail off to Alexandria.

This evening, sitting on the rocks at Taix we ached the sunset over the water, a thing not often seen by me, and it was beautiful. Toby thought he would see a green flash as the sun went down, I do not know who told him that, but he was a bit disappointed. Althiugh we did give a thought to the people who were just then watching the sun come up over the water. Amazing
